This review contains PR samples° and affiliate links* The Wish Company is kicking off its Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 with a number of awesome deals and plenty of love for their cruelty free and mostly vegan brands! Unsure which K-beauty goodies to shop? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered – here are my top 5 picks for the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020, plus all deals, product launches and specials listed!
For fans of Korean skincare, two major annual shopping events in particular are pretty much unmissable. One is – of course – the Wishtrend Black Friday Sale, with its crazy discounts and incredible package deals. And for a few years now, Wishtrend has held another amazing sales event during its annual sales schedule: the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week!
Featuring pretty much all of the Wishtrend in-house brands – Klairs, I’m from, Jungle Botanics, Skin&Lab and By Wishtrend – plus derma brand favourite COSRX and newbie Rovectin, this is a massive sales event, which by now almost rivals their Black Friday Sale. Since these types of huge site-wide sales can sometimes overwhelm and confuse, I thought it might be helpful to offer a little overview of what’s actually happening in terms of special discounts. I’m also going to give you my first impression of two Wishtrend product launches that I got sent last week (too early for a full review!), and recommend 5 particularly enticing products that are worth getting during the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020.
Before I dive into all the deals, discounts and interesting products on offer during the Cruelty Free Brand Week, here is just a friendly reminder that there is no rush to buy anything if you don’t currently have the funds for it. There is always a sale going on somewhere on the internet, and you can expect another big round of great Wishtrend deals once November rolls in. So, if you are currently struggling financially, just take a deep breath and tell yourself: “I have all the time in the world to get these products.”
On the other hand, you should also not feel guilty if you do decide to treat yourself (within your means and with a calm, clear head): People like to make us feel bad about our spending choices, especially when we spent money on things that are coded as “feminine” and thus “frivolous.” My favourite example here is my friend’s ex, who used to get angry at her for daring to buy a new pair of high heels, while he himself had an extensive range of expensive brand sneakers. See, sneakers are super manly and thus, of course, practical and useful, while high heels are for women (they aren’t, by the way – plenty of men wear them too!) and thus silly and superfluous.
So, bottom line: don’t feel guilty if you decide to splurge during this sale, but also don’t feel pressured to shop all the things just because something is on special – it will be on special again at some point this year! That being said – let’s take a look at what the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 has to offer for us skincare lovers!
Wishtrend Cruelty Brand Week 2020: Discounts, Coupon Code Specials, Product Launches and more!
The Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 kicked off today, Monday the 25th of May, and will last through to Sunday the 31st of May 2020. It is meant to highlight the cruelty free and vegan brands Wishtrend has in its portfolio. Pretty much all brands on offer at Wishtrend are on sale, since by now they are all cruelty free, often even fully vegan. Wishtrend always marks vegan products with a little green icon, so if you are vegan make sure to look for that icon!
What’s the difference between “cruelty free” and vegan you may ask? Well, COSRX is a cruelty free brand, but they do use honey-derived ingredients and snail mucin, which is harvested in a way that does not stress out or harm the snails (or bees, respectively). If you are 100% against using animal-derived ingredients, you should watch for the vegan icon, if you are predominantly worried about animal torture and want to make sure a brand does not test on animals, then cruelty free is the main label to look for when choosing a product.
I: What about free shipping during the sale?
Due to the ongoing flight restrictions because of the pandemic, Wishtrend cannot offer its usual free shipping deal for regular airmail, but does offer free expedited shipping for orders over 100$. You should double-check if Wishtrend can ship to your country, since there are some problems regarding import stops for e.g. Russia, again due to CVID-19.
Expect delays for shipments and please don’t be too angry at Wishtrend for this, since it isn’t their fault if this happens – all overseas shops are currently struggling with delays and higher shipping costs because there simply aren’t as many international flights available. Plus, whenever there is a sale a shop will have a higher volume of orders come in, thus further delaying the shipping process.
II: What discounts can we expect during the Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020? Are there any special coupon deals?
So, first off – there are discounts of up to 40% offered site-wide during the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020, ranging from 10% for Rovectin* and 20% for COSRX* to up to 35% for I’m from products such as the super popular I’m from Rice Toner!* There are also a couple of sets on offer that can provide further discounts, such as the Day & Night Oily Acne Prone Skin Care Kit*, which contains 5 of my absolute favourite Wishtrend products such as the amazing Klairs Unscented Toner, for only 77.40$ instead of the regular 129$!
There are also a couple of awesome extra discounts to choose from with the following coupon codes:
- You can receive an extra 20% off if you spend between 150$ and 249$ with the code “PAWPROMISE20”
- If you spend more than 250$ you can receive a whooping extra 30% off with the code “PAWPROMISE30”
- If the stylish ECLAIR LED Therapy Mask* is your splurge of choice, you can get 40% off this beauty tool with the code “LED40”!
III: So what’s new this week on Wishtrend?
There are three exciting new launches out this week for you to pick up with a juicy extra discount! Firstly, Wishtrend is now selling a few Rovectin products – only three for now, but hopefully there will be more soon.
Secondly, Klairs brought out a new sunscreen to complement the super popular – and excellent – Klairs UV Airy Essence. The Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield with SPF50+* is meant for oilier skin types and has a mattifying effect on the skin. It isn’t as moisturising as the UV Airy Essence, but I am quite in love with its super light texture and slight tone up effect on my skin. The Blue UV Shield also uses physical filters, which some people prefer. It does leave a tiny bit of a white cast, so choose the UV Airy Essence if you are darker skinned. This is a great pick for oilier skin types, as the mattifying effect is noticeable throughout the day! You can get the Klairs Mid Day Blue UV Shield with a 10% discount during the By Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 for only 20.70$ for a huge 80ml bottle! Oh, and – the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence* is available with a 20% discount for only 18.40$!
The third big product launch at Wishtrend this week was a pleasant surprise for me: the By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 15% with Ferulic Acid* was sent to me in addition to the new Klairs Blue UV Shield, and I am rather obsessed with it even after only trying it for a short while. This is a water-based serum using ascorbic acid, which can be somewhat versatile and is prone to oxidation, but is also the best-researched and most effective form of vitamin C. In order to stabilise the formula and add antioxidant benefits to it, this also features ferulic acid, as well as hydrating seabuckthorn water. I’m in love with the non-sticky, super pleasant water texture of this serum and so far, my skin has been loving it!
This is awesome for us oily to oily combo skin types, as it lacks the usual sticky, oil-like texture many ascorbic acid serums have. You can get the By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 15% with Ferulic Acid serum with a 15% discount for only 23.80$ for the 30ml bottle.
5 Top Picks to Snatch up during the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020
I’ve been combing through the offerings during the Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 and chosen these 5 products or product sets as my top picks during the sale, in addition to the above mentioned package deals and new launches. I haven’t tried all of these myself yet, some are on my own wish list right now, but all of them are definite highlights from Wishtrend’s offerings. I tried to pick products that are newer, just to mix it up a little compared to last year’s sales recs.
Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 Top Pick 1: By Wishtrend Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule
To say that I am head over heels for this sticky, syrupy delight of an ampoule is basically an understatement. I reviewed the By Wishtrend ampoule with 15% propolis extract a few weeks ago, and by now it’s almost used up. In fact, I am hoarding the last drops like Gollum watches over his precious, unsure if my wallet will permit me to repurchase this beauty.
If you want all the reasons why I love this product, make sure to read my full review linked above. The short version: this helps reduce redness and inflammation, seems to miraculously help with my breakouts and is super hydrating! If you have dehydrated skin that is acne-prone and sensitive, this is a great pick, but it can also work for drier skin types thanks to all the glorious humectants added to the formula. Oh, and did I mention this is also alcohol- and fragrance-free? Love!
You can purchase the By Wishtrend Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule* with a 20% discount for only 25.60$ for the 30ml bottle.
My Top Pick 2: Klairs 2 Step Eye Care Set
A while ago I was contacted by a German K-beauty shop offering me the – back then still quite new – Klairs Fundamental eye products. I declined the offer mostly because I felt they asked for a lot of free content in exchange for the supposedly “free” products, and as a freelance content creator with bills to pay, I don’t really see product as an acceptable form of payment for guaranteed content to the brand’s specific requirements. However, I have to admit that I often think back to that particular offer, wondering if I shouldn’t have said yes because man do these two Klairs eye products look great.
The Klairs 2 Step Eye Care Set* consists of the Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel with depuffing caffeine and invigorating red bean extract, and the Klairs Fundamental Eye Butter with a rich texture and anti-aging peptides for firmness and tone. Use these individually or together as a layering treatment!
You can get this set with a neat 25% discount for only 36$ instead of the regular 48$! Wah, I am so tempted by this myself!
My Top Pick 3: Klairs 3 Step Essential Brightening Set
This trio contains three of my absolute favourite Klairs products and is great for anyone looking to brighten and even out skin tone and texture! The set contains the Klairs Freshly Squeezed Vitamin Drop Serum,* which I reviewed in German a long time ago and still am fond of as a starter product for vitamin C newbies. Add to that my forever fave when it comes to texture-improving overnight treatments, the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask* (which I also reviewed on the blog), plus the already mentioned Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence* (also reviewed and still beloved by moi) and you end up with a fantastic little set suitable for pretty much all skin types.
You know what is even better than a great skincare set? A great skincare set with a 25% discount! During the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week, you can pick up the Klairs 3 Step Brightening Set* for only 54.70$ instead of the usual 73$.
My Top Pick 4: I’m from Skin Detox Package
I’ve been coveting the I’m from Mugwort product range for as long as it has been out basically! As with so many ingredient trends, the Wish company and its manifold brands basically were ahead of the curve when they launched the I’m from Mugwort Essence* – the first one to kick off the mugwort mega trend that was at its height in 2019 (though technically Hanyul’s Artemisia products came first, but they didn’t have the same trend-causing impact I would say).
If you really want to dive deep into the mugwort ingredient trend, the I’m from Skin Detox Package might just be the ticket! This is a 6 part set consisting of the I’m from Mugwort wash-off mask, Mugwort Essence, Mugwort Cream, 5 Mugwort Sheet Masks, the Mugwort Spot Gel and a free silicone brush. So, you will be all mugwort-ed up with the I’m from Skin Detox Package,* and all of that with a yummy 40% discount for only 87.60$ instead of the regular 146$!
My Top Pick 5: Rovectin LHA Blemish Ampoule
Two of my favourite Korean Youtubers – Eunice and Beautycloud UNA – have been using the Rovectin LHA Ampoule lately, and both seem pretty impressed with it. LHA, lipohydroxy acid, is a derivative of salicylic acid and said to be gentler than BHA while still offering similar pore-cleansing effects, plus anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Rovectin is a relatively new brand that has taken the Korean beauty world by storm, thanks to their extra gentle derma formulas.
The ampoule also contains a number of skin-soothing and hydrating ingredients such as glycerin, low molecular hyaluronic acid, panthenol and beta glucan. This should be a wonderful serum treatment for oily, acne-prone and oily combo skin! You can get the Rovectin LHA Blemish Ampoule* currently on sale with a 10% discount during the Wishtrend Cruelty Free Brand Week 2020 for a price of 13.50$!
Wishtrend Cruelty Brand Week 2020: Wishtrend’s Paw Promise!
I have huge respect for Wishtrend’s commitment to go cruelty free with pretty much all the brands they are now producing and the ones they are re-selling! This is why their Cruelty Free Brand Week will always have a special place in my heart, as I know many of you are fully vegan and always ask me about K-beauty that is cruelty free.
Apart from the above mentioned brand and product deals, there are all sorts of great bargains to be had during this week’s sale event. It is also a perfect opportunity to stock up on K-beauty must haves such as the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream* or the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water!*
