Today’s English K-beauty review is all about the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream, an ultra nourishing anti ageing moisturiser that is just perfect for winter!
I was pretty damn stoked when I received an email from the lovely Rosé that I had been selected for the Swanicoco influencer program, adorably named “the Swans.” So, yay, I guess I am finally a beautiful swan now! The goal of the Swans program is, of course, to review products from Korean skincare and makeup brand Swanicoco, and so a few weeks ago I received a small selection of some of their products. One of these items was the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream, which I have been using pretty much daily since I received it.
I don’t know about you, but my skin has a tendency to go a bit bonkers once the cold season hits: suddenly my oily, dehydrated combination skin starts to act as if it was dry – rough patches on the cheeks, a feeling of tautness, and far more pronounced wrinkles around the eye area and the forehead. Especially during night time I always feel like my skin is just parched – the dry indoor air and the ice cold temperatures outside are just too much for it to handle.
Now, I still have an oily T-zone and a tendency to break out during that time of the month, so this leaves me with somewhat of a dilemma when it comes to finding the perfect winter moisturiser for night time. Usually, my skin does best with gel-type moisturisers, but for my winter PM routine I need something heavy duty, which nevertheless can’t be so heavy that it breaks me out. When I tried the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream for the first time, I almost instantly felt that this moisturiser may just be “the One.” But – first things first: let’s learn a bit more about what exactly Swanicoco claims this cream can do for your skin.
Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream – the Basics
Swanicoco is a high end brand from Korea known for its fermented skincare ranges and a love of nature-derived (though usually not organic) plant extracts that are wed with high tech ingredients such as peptides. Interestingly, Swanicoco was founded as a company producing fermented plant soaps, but has since developed a whole range of skincare products that offer anti-wrinkle, whitening and nourishing benefits. Apparently, they also make some badass body and hair care products, but I haven’t tried those yet. Swanicoco products are free from artificial dyes, artificial fragrances, chemical preservatives, steroids, alcohol, mineral oil, parabens, and benzophenones.
The Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream is an anti-wrinkle moisturiser that is meant to improve skin elasticity. I presume the “lifetime saver” refers to the “time erasing” effect the cream will have on the skin! Too bad that no actual lifetime is being restored by this product – now wouldn’t that be neat?
Here is the ingredient list for the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream: (source – W2Beauty product page)*
“Mineral Water, sh-Polypeptide-16, sh-Polypeptide-4, sh-Polypeptide-22, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isoamyl Laurate, Cetearyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Collagen Amino Acids, Grifola Frondosa Fruiting Body Extract, Maltodextrin, Ceramide NP, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Astaxanthin, Backhousia Citriodora Leaf Extract, Swiftlet Nest Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Angelica Gigas Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Bletia Hyacinthina Bulb Extract, Trichosanthes Kirilowii Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract, Phytosterols, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Trehalose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sorbitan Stearate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Adenosine, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Propanediol.”
The ingredient list is a bit of a read, isn’t it? I am not knowledgeable enough to go through every single item on the list here, but a few intriguing ingredients definitely jump out to me! First and foremost, the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream contains a number of peptides, which are currently a big thing in Asian beauty products since some of them apparently can boost collagen production, thus helping to prevent sagging and wrinkling of the skin. I have tried a number of peptide-containing products lately and absolutely love the way they make my skin look! I am also quite fond of the liquorice root extract in this moisturiser, since it’s known to help brighten dull complexions and soothe sensitive, inflamed skin. Ceramides, collagen and adenosine are some of the other anti-aging ingredients this cream is enriched with, all meant to help improve skin tone and texture.
Another interesting addition to the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream is backhousia citriodora leaf extract, which is lemon myrtle extract – a quick google search revealed that it apparently can help with “hyperseborrhea”, which is the name for excessive sebum production. I feel this addition may be one of the reasons why even with my oily skin I found this moisturiser very comfortable to use!
Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream – a “Time Machine” in a Cream?
The first time I used the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream I felt a bit apprehensive, since it’s definitely a rich moisturiser, with a thicker, creamier texture than my usual go-to moisturisers. It’s so hard to find the right type of winter moisturiser for my combination skin, and trying out new products is always a bit scary since I can break out lightning-fast after use.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by the rather special texture of the cream: yes, it is indeed very nourishing and lusciously rich, but once you apply it to the skin it almost “melts”, turning into a far more watery texture that sinks in nicely. It does take a tad longer for this moisturiser to get fully absorbed, at least compared to the gels and watery serums I usually gravitate towards, but that is acceptable for a winter moisturiser. I do tend to use the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream more as a night time moisturiser, but when the weather is really cold I also often reach for it in my AM routine.
Once I apply the cream I notice a wonderful dewiness on my skin, which does not look greasy at all! This is why I think that oily skin types could actually do well with the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream as a winter moisturiser. It would probably be a bit much during summer, since yes, it is a cream that contains oils, but for now I am loving how smooth and soft it makes my skin feel.
Now, when it comes to the “time machine” effect the cream’s name promises… Well, I don’t know about that. I feel that trying to determine if a moisturiser or serum really does make you look younger is kind of difficult. My skin has definitely looked rather awesome lately, and some of the, um, age-related sallowness and sagging has improved: my skin looks more plump and glowing again, which does remind me of the way my skin naturally looked during my 20s. However, I am almost 100% sure that this can be attributed to another Swanicoco product I have been using – the Swanicoco FGF Pure Ampoule R.* Using the FGF Pure Ampoule has really been a life changer in terms of effective anti ageing products!
What the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream provides for my skin is predominantly intense hydration, which in turn does help to make my face look more toned and youthful/smooth. Combining both the ampoule and the cream in my PM skincare routine has led to some fantastic improvements!
Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream – the Bottom Line
So, yes, I am loving the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream – apart from the equally awesome Ärztin Ä-Barriere Cream, the Lifetime Saver Cream is probably the only thick cream texture my oily combo skin can tolerate without immediately breaking out. I love the unique texture, which melts into the skin so easily, and I do not have to worry about rough or flaky cheeks anymore during the winter months. This is hands down my favourite new winter skincare discovery!
If you are interested in purchasing the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream, you can find it at Yesstyle* for roughly 35$ for a 50ml jar. A little goes a long way with this, so one jar of the Swanicoco Lifetime Saver Bio Cream should last you through most of winter.
Have you tried any Swanicoco products yet? What is your favourite winter moisturiser?
Take care guys!
